The BfS sees its findings confirmed

Result of the Helmholtz report taken into account when planning the trial phase

Today, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection received the findings from a subsequent survey of the waste inventory by the former Asse operator, the Helmholtz Zentrum München. A first review revealed that the report confirms the subsequent waste survey carried out by the Federal Office itself. The 4,000-page report (including appendix) records the discrepancy between the information provided at the time by the waste deliverer and the actual content of the crates. Security measures for the investigation of individual waste chambers, which are currently being prepared, take into the account the increased radioactivity of the waste inventory, presented in the report.

The report on the inventory contributes towards taking the necessary security measures during retrieval to ensure the safety of both public and staff.
